White Nephrite Jade
White nephrite jade pierced work pendant in the form of an ancient lock. A bat is depicted holding a chime from its mouth. This superbly rendered pendant was probably intended to be a birthday or wedding gift since the symbolism expresses a desire for good luck and longevity. In our opinion, the subject matter, workmanship and material suggest a Qing dynasty date for this work of art.
