Yellow Green Nephrite Jade with Russet Brown Markings
Superb Han Dynasty Sword Pommel rendered from yellow green nephrite jade with russet brown markings. This object was intended to be mounted on the top of an ancient sword handle. The piece retains the smooth silken texture of the polish. With an old collector’s label on the underside. From the Longshantang Collection, California, acquired in the Far East circa 1960. In our opinion the subject matter, workmanship and material suggest a Han Dynasty date of this sword pommel.
