Fu Lion
Russet and Pale Celadon Jade
Ming Dynasty
Length 3 inches (7.6 cm)
This fantastic piece depicts an exquisite Fu Lion in a crouched position. With paws and tail tucked in it appears to be ready to pounce. The spine is clearly visible with small divots to show the structure. The face is carved with a stout nose, bulging eyes, and bushy eyebrows. The material is of pale celadon with vibrant russet inclusions throughout, most notably on one side, and polished to a semi glossy finish. This piece originates from the Ming dynasty.
