Covered Jade Bowl Depicting Tao Tieh Masks

Diameter: 5 inches, Height: 3.5 inches
White Nephrite Jade
Circa: Eighteenth Century

This elegant covered Jade bowl depicts Tao Tieh Masks rendered in raised relief on both the cover and the body of the vessel. The finial depicts cloud form ruyi scepter heads in a repeating pattern. The interior of the bowl is rendered to a gloss high polish finish to show the beauty of the material.

The underside shows four splayed feet and a polished finish. In our opinion the subject matter, material and fine workmanship suggest an Eighteenth century date for this refined work of art.
