Archaistic Form Yellow Jade Snuff Bottle

Height: 2.5 inches, Width: 1.25 inches

With Green Glass Stopper

Qing Dynasty, 1750-1820

The shape of this snuff bottle is based upon an archaistic bronze form shape from antiquity. During the Qing dynasty, archaistic inspired subjects were in demand. The diminutive size suggests it was rendered from a rather small original pebble of yellow jade. The interior is well hollowed and the bottle rests on a raised foot ring. The material is remarkably consistent in a light yellowish color. The stopper is a deep green color of glass. In our opinion the subject matter, material and workmanship suggest a Qing Dynasty date for this handsome snuff bottle.
