Glass Imitating Amber Snuff Bottle

Circa 1790-1840

Chinese workmanship

This glass imitating amber snuff bottle demonstrates the high level of workmanship achieved during the snuff bottle period. The interior has been polished out through a rather narrow opening. The color has the deep warmth of amber which it emulates. The stopper consists of amber imitating glass! In our opinion the subject matter, workmanship and glass material suggest a date of 1790-1840 for this excellent snuff bottle.
