Chinese workmanship
This superbly ovoid shaped Jadeite snuff bottle shows an excellent combination of apple green and white coloration. The artist has left the body plain to show the beauty of the jade material. The interior of the bottle has been well hollowed through a small opening of concave shape. The stopper is deep reddish orange carnelian agate. This snuff bottle has a high degree of polish which makes it pleasant to hold in the hand. In our opinion, the workmanship and material suggest an 1850 to 1880 date for this fine snuff bottle.
